Fellow
Toastmasters, We had a
packed room last Wednesday. Another
fruitful meeting unfolded under the dynamic leadership of our Toastmaster of
the Day Jose Garcia.
Jose
masterfully introduced each speaker and meeting participant. In the process he completed project #5 of
specialty speeches (Introduce the Speaker).
Well done.
But wait
there's more: Georgia
completed her ACS at the meeting. Congratulations.
On the
speech menu this time:
- Gouri told us a wonderful story
about an old lady painter she met in Buenos
Aires. Apparently,
Gouri is an under-cover Brazilian...
Intrigued? Ask Gouri about
it.
- There is no shortage of awards
in Toastmasters. Ivana presented
one to APS and concluded with a memorable mountain analogy. If you missed it, talk to to her.
- There's always room for
improvement. Georgia
suggested 5 ways to make the APS club even stronger. It looks like the next team of club
officers has their work cut out for them already.
- The word of the day was 'plethora'
and presented by Pauline Edwards. Thank
you Pauline for choosing and selecting it among a plethora of other words.
Table
topics challenged a few to think on their feet.
For instance:
- Christine told us about what
she thinks an "impact job" entails
- Lois shared her thoughts about
the place of testing in our educational system
- Harry explained what the
challenges and opportunities of our megacities are
- Leila expanded on the role of
apologies in our social relationships with others
Our general
evaluator for the night, Todd McKinney, ran an effective meeting evaluation. Our evaluators Harry, Christine, Brian, and
Kimberly provided actionable improvement suggestions to our speakers, while
pointing out what worked well in their respective speeches.
Finally, Leila
and Jennifer watched the ahs-ums and tracked our time. Thanks.
Our next
meeting is on June 27. Signup for
meeting roles online, or drop me a note.
